Hayley + Brandon | A Mt. Rainier Wedding at Nisqually Winds Mountain House

I remember exactly where I was when I met with Hayley and Brandon over the phone to talk about capturing their wedding. In my purple office chair, at my desk, with my baby in his bouncer on the floor next to me — my toe gingerly tapping to keep him sleeping. This was how I spent most days last winter. The coming summer seemed so far away.

We met for their engagement session and I fell in love with them. So grounded, honest, easygoing and kind people. I was not just a vendor to them, which is my most heartfelt wish for every couple I work with. Hayley and I became buds on social media and when I showed up for this day it felt like greeting old friends. At the end of the night, we stood just outside the gathering, looking in at their loved ones, and I felt sad to go.

Life is about people, people.

Enjoy.

Taylor + Andy | A Sun-Drenched Discovery Park Engagement

As I sit typing this, I have my five month old baby laying on his little Nemo playmat with dangling fish and sea creatures — and It’s making me realize that Taylor and Andy’s was the first wedding I booked after having the baby. He was still pretty new when we headed out to do their engagement session. Those first few trips out felt triumphant, and coming back to myself after the very giving process of labor and delivery.

My favorite sessions are the ones where we have space to explore, when the time just flies, and there are chapters of laughter, sincerity, quiet and noise. These sessions seem to live and breathe, and rather than considering an individual photo, the gallery is experienced as a whole — one frame leading to the next in a cadence.

Enjoy.

MaiLinh + Jake | Ballard Locks Winter Engagement

Winter means engagement sessions! It’s my favorite way to get to know my wedding couples, to find out what makes them laugh and to see the way they interact with each other. I’m always thrilled and grateful for the little glimpse into their lives.

We started this session with their EXTREMELY spry 8-year-old dog, and when life got too overstimulating for her, we continued on our own. :) I don’t get to spend enough time at the Locks, but they’re such an iconic part of Seattle history. On this particular day, a big day-cruise boat with Christmas EVERYTHING came through and made a performance, so it was busier than usual, but it’s usually a quiet escape in the city.

Enjoy.

Keegan + Colin | Seattle In Home Session

We celebrated their new home (and new kitten OMG) with a photo sesh. Indoor shoots are always a bit of a mystery when it comes to light, but I loved the way the sun beamed through the window and cast a harsh spot right through the center of their place. You’ll see it! No two days are the same, even in the same home, so light is the biggest changing factor. Whether it’s dark and rainy or bright and sunny, an in-home session will usually always work. Feast your eyes!
