This is the closest thing I’ve ever experienced to being inside a snow globe. In December I headed to Ashford, WA, just outside Mt. Rainier National Park, to Bobo’s Bungalow. It’s a retro cabin with a modern makeover that manages to keep the soul of times past. Furnished with high-end finishes like Pendleton blankets and towels, and Heather Taylor accent pieces, it’s a luxury and rough-edged little escape under the majesty of Mt. Rainier.
I went on a solo-excursion, a much needed escape before the craze of the holidays. The best part is since I was there to capture listing photos, I was among the very first guests. There wasn’t even internet yet, and honestly it was the best way to totally unplug. I listened to record after record (their collection is expertly curated), danced around the living room, and browsed their extensive DVD library (Almost Famous for the win!). I soaked in the hot tub watching the darkening forest succumb to dusk. I made myself a pancake breakfast the next morning. I honestly had the best time. It was the perfect chance for a solo retreat, and would also make a really romantic little getaway with my husband, which I fully intend to come back for.
Photographing the interior, my goal was to capture the coziness and the collection of cozy cabin decor that the owners lovingly curated in their restoration of the lovely A-frame. It’s truly a peaceful oasis — there are deer who come to snack on the feeder just outside the front door (though they’d likely eat right out of your hand).
I can’t recommend this cozy cabin enough for a woodsy weekend adventure. You can book here!
