Seattle Airbnb | Interior Commercial Photographer

The first thing I noticed walking into this absolutely perfect Airbnb rental home in Seattle was how well the original charm of the home was preserved in its modernization. We love crown molding AND updated heating!

The owner of this short term rental is a master of curation when it comes to vintage and antique items. Nothing is worse than walking into an Airbnb or VRBO and finding wall-to-wall fresh-out-of-the-box decor sourced exclusively from Amazon. It’s not to say that we don’t need convenience in our choices, but I love a collected space.

For one thing, it’s far more sustainable to repurpose items that are already in existence. There are so many good things already out there! Additionally, curating a space intentionally takes a lot of dedication to the overall balance of aesthetic. When we travel, we want to experience a place or a new city, and the place we stay can be just as meaningful as many of the other destinations and activities.

Think back to some of your favorite vacations and tell me if you can recall at least some details about the home you stayed in. In a world with Airbnbs available around every corner, spaces like this totally stand apart.

Of course, the icing on the cake is photographing it intentionally. In over ten years working with people and spaces, I’ve learned about approaching a space with a curious eye and informed skillset. Creating balanced compositions comes from a large background in art, and telling the story through a branding eye comes from many years of experience. I love the feedback I get from my clients when they tell me their space has rented at a higher rate and higher frequency because of their photography. My personal mission is to embody and inspire joy, and this kind of shoot brings me in such alignment with that purpose.

If you have a space you’ve designed I would love to hear about it! Get in touch via email: emily@emilykeeney.com.

Of The Earth | Seattle Branding Photography

What a beautiful thing it is when your good friends are your creative community are your clients. Court Walker’s ceramics studio, Of The Earth, was the original reason she and I connected. Then, we found kindred spirits in one another as working creatives, navigating the ins and outs of running a business and pursuing art-filled passions. “Picture day” has become a celebration of the work we do every day to surround ourselves with creative energy and to invite community.

Located in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle, Of The Earth is a creative’s dream with soaring ceilings, a super cool loft community space, as well as all of the makings of an expansive ceramics studio. Court has intentionally filled the space with materials, supplies, and PEOPLE who contribute a glowing creative environment. This, obviously, is a total pleasure to photograph. The vibe comes first before anything, and man does that deliver here. Add in some magical string lights and west-facing windows and it’s a total dream come true. These “branding sessions” never feel contrived. People simply come to the studio, do their thing, and I watch and capture. It’s my favorite kind of branding work and there are zero mentions of #girlboss. ;D

ENJOY.

Seattle Maternity + Family Photography Session in the Mountains

This is a family I adore and have worked with several times (always the best!). We met through good old Instagram and I’ve been able to capture their growing family over the last year and a half. We’ve done sessions in-home and out in parks, and today I wanted to share the very first session we did together set just outside of the city in a meadow by a mountain. Something about the magnitude of that place feels so right for expecting a new baby — it’s a big unknown and also thrilling! (Fun fact: I found out that I was pregnant with our second the week that this session occurred!)

Capturing family photo sessions in Seattle is so close to my heart. I love that we chose this city to live in and that we’re growing our family here, and sharing that with my clients is really special. My journey through photography has changed in the years, from focusing on weddings to photographing families as my life shifts in that direction. Enjoy this beautiful mountain maternity + family session!
